Carl Christian Thier is a founding shareholder of Urban Thier & Federer, P.A., an international law firm with offices in the US, Germany and the United Kingdom.  He frequently travels between the firm's offices to coordinate European and American legal and business matters.

Mr. Thier's practice focuses primarily on German and United States cross border law in the areas of international contract law, international tax planning related to income and estate matters (German American Treaty for Avoidance of Double Taxation), business entity formation and business negotiations and domestications of foreign judgments, with a particular focus on cross border investments between Germany and the United States. Mr. Thier manages the New York office of the firm.

Mr. Thier is a member of the German Bar Association as well as the New York Bar Association. He serves as President and Chairman of the Central Florida Chapter of the German American Business Chamber (GABC). He also teaches International Law at Lawline, a leading US provider of continuing legal education. He is a member of the steering committee of the German Wirtschaftsrunde in New York. Mr. Thier is the Honorary Vice Consul for the Republic of Austria in Central Florida.

John L. Urban is a founding shareholder of Urban Thier & Federer, P.A., and managing shareholder of the law firm's Orlando office. He is based in Orlando and also works out of the offices in Atlanta, New York and London. 

Mr. Urban focuses his practice on civil litigation in business and contract disputes, commercial law, debt collection, recognition and enforcement of foreign court decisions, international law, real estate law, wills/probate law, significant personal injury and wrongful death matters. 

He has handled all manner of litigation cases including trials, appellate cases and arbitration proceedings. He has served as the lead attorney for over 500 federal court lawsuits and over 100 state court lawsuits, as well as numerous appeals in federal and state appellate courts, throughout the United States. These appearances include appearing as lead attorney in the Supreme Court of the United States, in multiple federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, in multiple state courts of appeal, in trial courts throughout the United States, and arbitration proceedings before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), and other arbitration organizations.
